Cable equipment big cheese Arris has booted fierce rival Cisco out of the contract for developing the new WorldBox 2.0 for US cableco Charter Communications – the second generation hybrid IP/QAM video platform. The original WorldBox rolled out in early 2015, when the former Arris CEO and current Executive Chairman, Bob Stanzione, had to publicly reassure the world that Cisco winning the deal at Charter wouldn’t result in any market share being clawed away from it. This was of course prior to Arris’ purchase of Pace, and Cisco’s sale of its set top arm to Technicolor.
