AT&T has floated an idea across the wires this week which is supposed to suggest that US powerlines can be used to deliver multiple Gigabits per second, using a plastic antenna fed by NFV components in the cloud. AT&T seems to be saying that this is the solution for cheap 5G backhaul. We very much doubt that it is and would like to share our thoughts on this here.
