Bundeskartellamt and EU to have “Mother of all battles” over Germany

We were unsurprised by the news from The Register this week that Vodafone and Liberty Global are back in talks to merge more of themselves across Europe. This time the rumor is that the Germany fixed line business will go to Vodafone, and the UK mobile network will go to Liberty Global. The same obstacles sit firmly in place – that is that the UK deal is fine, a MNO with under a third of the market, tying up with a pay TV playing with under a third of the pay TV market.
