Chinese players take lead in ETSI’s AI-driven network management effort

There is a distinctly Chinese flavor to the latest ETSI Industry Specification Group, which is looking at standard ways to use AI techniques to simplify telco network management and improve the experience the networks deliver. China Telecom and Huawei are to lead the new project, called ISG ENI (Experiential Networked Intelligence), which first came to light at February’s Mobile World Congress. Huawei UK’s Raymond Forbes has been chosen as chairman and China Telecom’s Haining Wang as vice-chair of the group, which is also joined by the China Academy of Telecommunications Research of MIIT, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with Samsung, Verizon UK,  Xilinx and Samsung R&D Institute UK.
