The UK Competition Commission has pointed out what appeared obvious from the start, that the video project that would merge existing broadcast content from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 on a new online player, called Project Kangaroo, would restrict competition. Similar to the BBC iPlayer which has captured tens of millions of customers, Kangaroo was to include content from the top UK broadcast channels. The proposed remedy is that the content is also made available to alternative platforms. Apparently US bank Goldman Sachs, which owns a big chunk of shares in Sanyo, has walked away from acquisition negotiations with Panasonic saying that Panasonic has no intention of buying all the stock and the price being offered is too low.…
