Ericsson makes bold 5G claims for its new core and end-to-end platform

While Huawei went heavy on cloud and light on 5G in its pre-MWC event keynotes (see separate item), Ericsson put 5G right at the center of its message. While this reminded us all of the Swedish firm’s huge prowess in the mobile network, it should perhaps be offering a more all-round picture of its capabilities, at a time when it needs to convince the world that it is as effective in cloud, data center, fixed network and media platforms as its Chinese arch-rival. But radio and mobile core are what Ericsson does above all, and it is determined to lure operators onto its migration paths through 4.5G and towards the riches of 5G – riches which will amount to $582bn…
