Europe makes “milestone” decision to harmonize UHF band

The European Union has passed a “milestone” in its plan to coordinate spectrum for mobile broadband, with the European Parliament voting to approve proposals for the use of the UHF band, between 470 MHZ and 790 MHz, from mid-2020. Member states now have until June 30 2020 to ensure usage of these airwaves falls in line with EU conditions. They will also have this deadline to submit their national technology roadmaps to the European Commission, to ensure future plans meet its criteria.
