As Wireless Watch has been tracking for some years now, small cells and fiber are becoming critical assets for mobile operators as they start to densify their networks and think about even higher capacity in 5G. The US is in the midst of a wave of deals related to these two capabilities, with the major operators, and the towercos, snapping up sites, fiber and high frequency spectrum to support densification.
