Some smart Alec has claimed that Netflix will climb to 128 million subscribers by 2022, up 44% from the 89 million at the end of 2016. You’d think we’d give the forecaster credit by naming them, actually we are trying to save their blushes by telling you that Netflix will hit around 146 million by 2021, a year earlier. Let’s think about this. Right now, it is growing at about 5 million a quarter (4.75 million to be precise), so you would think that given that in Q1 2017 it ended up on 98 million paying members, and 102 million total (includes trials), that 30 million more might take as little as 18 months.
