Having backed away from its controversial plan to run a WiFi-like technology, TLPS, in its 2.4 GHz mobile satellite spectrum, Globalstar has now turned its attention to TD-LTE small cells. The company had been pursuing a plan to run a private network in its 2483.5-2495 MHz spectrum, which would have supported third party providers or enterprises and allowed for coexistence with unlicensed WiFi services. However, it ran into opposition based on potential interference with the adjacent WiFi band, and it abandoned the plan provided it could gain permission to use its spectrum for terrestrial wireless purposes.
