We have been bombarded by announcements from IBM recently, in particular heralding the beginning of the Cognitive Era in healthcare. The goal here is pretty simple, but the rewards are rather lucrative, as IBM looks to provide AI-enabled efficiency savings to massive healthcare clients, as well as improve its Watson capabilities. A major piece of news for enterprise IT is that IBM is bringing its Watson AI platform to its z System Mainframes, effectively providing an on-premises version of its machine-learning platform.
