Swedish media giant Modern Times Group (MTG) has purchased 35% of German games developer InnoGames for $100 million from Eight Road Ventures, with the option to increase its stake to 51%. MTG has positioned itself as a kingpin in esports gaming with the acquisition of Electronic Sports League (ESL) last year, which claims to be the world’s largest esports company, but InnoGames shifts MTG’s traditionally sports-related gaming roadmap in a different direction.
