SES grows new arms to reach for hybrid OTT satellite

Satellite giant SES has announced plans to undergo a strategic restructuring of its business with the formation of two new divisions, SES Video and SES Networks – which it says will be highly focused on the video and data-centric segments of SES’ operations. Despite the repeated claims by SES that its core satellite business is not suffering in the major markets as a result of consumers switching from DTH services in favor of OTT video offerings, the company’s recent moves, including this week’s reveal, are clear signs that SES is gradually embracing differentiation.
