Germany’s second largest TV tower company, Vantage Towers, has just signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with testing group Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) to drive commercial 5G Broadcast services starting in 2026. This will kick off in Germany but extend to all 10 European countries where Vantage Towers has infrastructure, with Spain and Greece being the other major ones. This raises the question of what services will be provided and how the 5G Broadcast technology will dovetail with existing or projected digital terrestrial services running over the same tower networks.
