A few weeks back we reported that China’s green hydrogen industry, including projects which have been announced but have not entered construction, came to 400 projects, 72 GW of power demand, and 8 million tons of green hydrogen production capacity. China is typically the market to track for an energy industry which is elsewhere struggling on cost-efficiency (see also nuclear) and eventually those numbers will become a reality. As we noted, solar-wind-battery LCOE there is around $50 per MWh, it will soon fall to $40 per MWh which can produce green hydrogen at $1.37 per kilogram, and the grey hydrogen price (so also the target price for green) is $1.25 per kilogram in China.
