A report released this Monday by ActionAid International and Profundo has found that international banks have contributed $3.2 trillion in funding towards fossil fuel projects in the global south since the passing of 2015’s Paris Climate Agreement, as well as $370 billion towards unsustainable agricultural practices. The report claims this is on average 20x more funding than governments in the global north have provided in mitigating the effects of climate change towards countries in the global south which have been most affected by the direct effects of climate change.
