A new energy storage idea that we have come across before, is to use CO2 as a battery, at least it has irony in its favor. This one from Energy Dome, uses the state change of CO2 whereas a previous one we wrote about from Noon Energy, uses CO2 in a solid oxide fuel cell, and breaks it down into CO and Oxygen, reversibly. That older US announcement was far earlier in its life-cycle when we wrote it up in March this year, it received $3 million for development – this week Energy Dome landed $11 million for a first round development in Italy.
