UK incumbent operator BT has set up a new business unit within its enterprise division to target the boom in private wireless networks, edge compute and IoT. The unit, called Division X, will be headed by former Sierra Wireless SVP Marc Overton and will aim to sell solutions and services in high growth vertical sectors, with a heavy focus on Overton’s own area of expertise, the industrial IoT. Overton has also held executive roles at Cisco, where he led the IoT business, and fintech services provider FiServ, and before that, he held wholesale and strategy leadership positions at EE, Hutchison 3 and Orange.
