Tongwei’s flooded polysilicon factory in Leshan has come back online, as has much of the production output in Xinjiang, but the supply of polysilicon remains tight with three out eleven Chinese manufacturing sites remaining under maintenance (up from two last week). Between the months of disabled output, the expansion of wafer, cell and module production, and the absence of any new polysilicon manufacturing capacity to be commissioned until 2022, prices will remain high and there may be a period of a year or more in which demand outstrips supply. Solar module output is already being affected by both factors, with polysilicon and glass each weighing heavily on total solar installation cost.
