Extrapolating the world’s current rate towards net zero is not the way to forecast what the global energy system will look like in 2050, nor is it going to provide the justifiable bout of confidence for investors in renewable technologies. However, that is exactly the approach that DNV, a global classification and standard-making group, has taken.
