We have been pushing the idea for some time, that instead of asking mostly fossil fuel loving energy companies how far they can move towards renewables in the coming years, we should adopt a position of – in order to slow to 1.5 degrees of warming, what needs to happen. It’s a little naïve to say that what needs to happen will happen, but the underlying principle that as we get closer to climate change disaster, the various voting populations around the world will force their political masters to end up throwing fossil fuels under the bus, and the closer we get, the more political pressure will mount.
