Andrew Forrest, the billionaire head of iron ore Australian mining giant Fortescue has agreed to buy out the first two development stages of Clarke Creek – a wind, solar and battery farm which he says will create the create the largest renewable energy precinct in the Southern Hemisphere. A $3 billion Australian dollar price tag (US$2.2 billion) was put on his total spend, but that is the total investment he expects to put in by the time the two phases are built out – no value was given for the actual purchase.
