It was only in 2016 that a NASA orbiting spacecraft successfully measured methane from space using an onboard spectrometer. This week three of the biggest oil companies – Chevron, Shell and TotalEnergies have signed up for one year pilot for high resolution green-house gas monitoring for 6 each of their offshore oil platforms (total 18), with GHGSat introducing its service in the same breath.
