Google is putting the finishing touches to its first WiFi 6E-enabled router, to be released under its Google Nest Fiber smart home brand. With the finish line for 6 GHz CPE in sight, there are questions as to when Google Fiber plans to implement WiFi 6E, especially considering the service’s planned expansion (see separate item). A sneak peek of the next Google Nest WiFi mesh router has popped up at the FCC under the model number A4R-G6ZUC. This will be the first 6E-enabled Nest router, allowing other access points in the mesh network to use the 6 GHz band for backhaul, which benefits even non-6E devices with lower latency due to reduced interference on the channel.
