In the first phases of the 5G era, there was a great deal of interest and hype around the huge capacity available in millimeter wave spectrum, and the new use cases this could enable. However, few operators have made extensive use of these high frequencies yet, with the major exception of AT&T and Verizon, which were initially short of the midband spectrum in which most MNOs were deploying their first 5G networks around the world.
