Democrats in the United States House of representatives have proposed the CLEAN Future Act, which includes a net-zero 2050 emissions target, a 50% emissions reduction target for 2030 (from 2005 levels), 100% clean energy by 2035, and 80% clean energy by 2030. Considering America’s current generation capacity is over 1200 GW, replacing the bulk of it – coal and gas – with wind, solar, battery energy storage, and expanded transmission will easily be a question of trillions of dollars in investments.
