Worth Noting: Vodafone sells out in Hungary for $1.8bn Vodafone has reached a deal with Hungarian system integrator 4iG and state-owned holding company Corvinus Zrt to sell its business in the country for HUF715bn ($1.8bn) in a cash deal. This will give 4iG a 51% stake in the business and the Hungarian state 49%, subject to regulatory approval expected before the end of 2022. The move gives Hungary’s government more direct control of its telecom sector, which is currently dominated by Magyar Telekom, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary. Vodafone Hungary is currently the country’s second-largest telco in Hungary, behind Magyar Telekom.
