EasyBroadcast has developed a new ABR algorithm called Multi-Source HTTP Live Streaming (MSHLS) that is supposed to smooth over some of the challenges faced by ABR algorithms when downloading video chunks from multiple sources during a live video stream. The French firm claims ABR algorithms need to be readapted for the hybrid viewer-to-viewer content delivery network (V2V-CDN) era – not to be confused with the vehicle-to-vehicle acronym – having fleshed out some findings in a whitepaper hot off the press.
