Billed as the Netflix killer of Asia, iflix launched in Malaysia in May 2015 as a competitively priced SVoD offering and is available in 13 countries today. iflix has evolved into an OTT video offering covering all bases—which poses a key challenge for Netflix in these regions.   Operations and figures: iflix surpassed 25 million subscribers around March 2019, growing from 15 million paid subs in summer 2018. The service is therefore likely to be in the region of 30 million subs today. iflix doesn’t break out data by country, but Rethink TV figures place some 4 million subscribers in Indonesia, while its native Malaysia is home to around 1.5 million subs.
