Integration of satellite and cellular networks could be an important way forward for broadband connectivity in India, given its huge geography and varied terrains. There are many commercial and government initiatives to increase the reach of wireline broadband in India (see separate item), but this is likely to remain a country in which wireless technologies dominate data and video consumption. Satellite will have a key role to play, if current stakeholder and regulatory disputes can be addressed.
