Indian research firm CRISIL has observed 7 GW of auctioned renewable energy developments in the country which have been delayed waiting for Power Sale Agreements (PSAs). This 7 GW figure concerns only those projects whose construction timeline would see them commissioned by the end of 2022, in time for India’s 160 GW clean energy target for the year, which may be missed by as much as 60 GW. Given that India’s 2022 target has never been very plausible, it’s worth noting there’s a further 11.9 GW of other delayed renewable energy projects whose construction timeline lies in 2023 and beyond.
