Inner Mongolia’s Energy Administration has published draft policy documents for comment, featuring targets of 100,000 tons of green hydrogen production by 2023 and 500,000 tons by 2025. The first 100,000-ton production capacity, which will require a few GW of dedicated renewable energy capacity, will be considered a “pilot project.” Between five and ten “hydrogen core enterprises” will be developed alongside 60 hydrogen fuel stations, with fuel-cell vehicles to be promoted in the mining, logistical, and public transportation sectors. At this point 3,800 hydrogen vehicles should be in use, and the industry should be worth around $6.2 billion.
