KDDI (Japan)

KDDI is the second-placed mobile network operator in Japan, behind NTT Docomo. Its Video Pass SVoD service launched in 2012.   Operations and figures: KDDI added 15,000 CATV subscribers in Q1 2019 to total 11.34 million. KDDI says it has just over 4.4 million FTTH subscribers, adding 137,000 over the past year. The mobile business has a mammoth 39.9 million subscribers, increasing by 117,000 in the first quarter alone, with a 70.1% smartphone penetration rate.
