The purchase of wireless technology firm Mimosa for $60m by India’s giant Reliance Group should be seen in the context of the company’s ambition for almost total telco dominance in the country as 5G roll out picks up steam in the wake of the spectrum auctions in August 2022. The purchase of Mimosa from US firm Airspan Network Holdings was executed by Jio Platforms, Reliance’s holding company for India’s largest MNO Jio.
