Not happy with just a behind-the-scenes documentary, Netflix is apparently chasing down the broadcast rights for Formula 1 in the US – hoping to poach them from arch-rival Disney’s ESPN. Both Comcast and Amazon are reportedly in the mix too, and the expected price is now reaching the $100 million per year realm. This is quite the leap, as ESPN is currently paying around $5 million per season for the F1 rights. This jump is less surprising, however, when you learn that Liberty Global is behind it all, as the majority owner of Formula 1 itself.
