The US’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has released a research document on the past ten years of solar cost declines, the U.S. Solar Photovoltaic System and Energy Storage Cost Benchmark: Q1 2020. The data goes back to 2010, showing a decline of 40% across all solar installation types by 2012. Over the next eight years from 2012, America’s residential installations declined by 42%, commercial by 52%, Fixed-Tilt utility by 66%, and Tracker utility by 69%.
