In the wake of the SNEC exhibition – the major annual event for China’s solar industry – polysilicon prices have increased in the country by a mere fraction of a percentage point, and Bernreuter’s index, which includes Western suppliers, even has a 0.1% decrease. That’s a sudden halt to the rapid ongoing price rise which has prevailed since the start of 2021: up to this point, there was an average weekly price rise of 4.5%, more like 7% to 8% in recent weeks, with prices recently passing four times the low point in the middle of 2020.
