Renewable orders this week

Boralex and Infinergy have announced a 20 MW extension to their 90 MW Limekiln Wind Farm in Scotland. Both parts of the project will be complete by the end of 2022.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has signed a PPA with 8minute for the latter’s 400 MW Eland Solar & Storage Center, in California, which will be fully commissioned in 2023.

JA Solar has supplied its mono PERC modules for a recently commissioned 32 MW solar farm at Shibetsu, in Japan.

Japan Renewable Energy has started the construction of the 79.7 MW Shirakawa Solar Farm in Fukushima Prefecture, all will be finished by December 2021.

South Energy’s Waroona Solar Farm should soon be approved by authorities. The project will have 183 MW of solar power and a 20 MW battery and will be located In Western Australia.

Tata Power has been awarded rights to develop another 50 MW portion of the Dholera Solar Park, which will eventually reach 5 GW. Tata Power was previously awarded 250 MW, and both portions will be commissioned by Q3 2020. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited is the offtaker.

Grenergy has secured funding for a solar farm in Antofagasta, Chile, which was already under construction. The 103 MW project will use bifacial technology and is located near Quillagua Oasis. It will be commissioned by Q3 2020.

Enel Green Power has just commissioned six solar plants in Extremadura, Spain. Baylio, Castilblanco, Dehesa de los Guadalupes, Furatena, Navalvillar, and Valdecaballero each have a capacity of 42.3 MW.

sPower will develop two solar projects in Arizona. The 100 MW East Line Solar, in Coolidge, has a PPA with Salt River Project and should be complete by the end of 2020. The 100MW Central Line Solar, in Eloy, will be commissioned by Q4 2021.

Masdar Clean Energy’s 100 MW solar plant in the Navoiy region of Uzbekistan will be ready by Q2 2021. A PPA has been signed with the Uzbekistan Government.

Norvento has commissioned the Sasdonigas 1 & 2, Neda, Carracedo, A Pastoriza and Cadeira Wind Farms. The wind farms total 128 MW, use Vestas turbines, and are located in the Spanish province of Lugo.

Total Eren is planning a 67.3 MW wind farm in Areia Branca, Rio Grande Do Norte state, Brazil. The project should be complete by the end of 2020.

Nautilus Solar Energy has purchased a 17.2 MW community solar portfolio from Borrego Solar, which will construct the three projects by Q3 2020.

Helios Energy will develop a 110 MW solar plant in Uzbekistan’s Sirdarya province. Construction will run from early 2020 to late 2023.


Athos Solar is developing a 40 MW solar project in Spain’s Castilla-La-Mancha province. The project will be commissioned in the first half of 2020.

Orsted’s Formosa 1 Offshore Wind Project is complete, off the coast of Taiwan. The 128 MW project uses Siemens Gamesa turbines and Taipower is the offtaker.

Statkraft has reduced is proposed an extension to the Berry Burn wind farm in Scotland, with intention to add 9 or 10 turbines.

Wind2 has submitted its proposal for a 28 MW wind farm, South Kilbraur, in Scotland.


McDonald’s has signed a VPPA with the Aviator Wind project, for 200 of its 525 MW output. The project will be commissioned by Apex Clean Energy early next year. McDonald’s has also signed a VPPA with an undisclosed solar project in Texas.

Siemens Gamesa is providing its turbines to the 254.2 MW Stavro Wind Farm in Jamtland, Sweden. The project will be completed in Q4 2021 by a consortium headed by Prime CapitalSiemens Gamesa is providing the turbines, while Google and Holmen are the offtakers.

SSE’s latest plans for the consented 38 MW Gordonbrush 2 Wind Farm in Scotland, featuring taller turbines, have been approved. FID has not yet been reached.

APA Group’s 110 MW Darling Downs solar farm has been completed, after a delay caused by the collapse of the initial EPC company. The project is in southwestern Queensland, Australia, and has a PPA with Origin Energy.

Siemens Gamesa has been declared the supplier for Vietnam’s Hai Long 2 offshore wind farm. Northland Power and Yushan Energy are developing the project, which was initially 300 MW in size, but was then granted another 232 MW capacity, for 532 MW total.

GE Renewable Energy is supplying its turbines to two Engie projects in the USA. 88x 2.8 MW turbines will go the King Plains wind farm in Oklahoma, 246.4 MW total, while 92x 2.7 MW turbines will go to the Triple H wind project in South Dakota, 248.4 MW total. Both projects will be commissioned in the second half of 2020.

Orsted has reached FID for the Permian Energy Center in Texas. The facility consists of 420 MW of solar power and 40 MW of battery storage. The solar panels will be supplied by JA Solar and Jinko Solar, while Exxon Mobil is the power offtaker. Commissioning is planned for mid-2021.

Canadian Solar, which also manufactures its own panels, will develop two solar projects in Brazil, both to be ready before January 2023. The 152.4 MW Gameleira plant is in Ceara province, while the 38.1 MW Luiz Gonzaga plant is in Pernambuco.

HSB Sodermanland, a Swedish housing cooperative, will develop a 20 MW solar plant near Strangnas. Construction will begin in March 2020.

Nordex turbines will be used in three wind farms in Turkey – the 100.8 MW Omerli near Istanbul, the 80.85 MW Sibel in the Aegean Region, and 67.2 MW for an unnamed project in the Marmara region. Boydak Enerji is the developer of the first two projects, while the developer of the last is an unspecified local utility.

The Minos 50 MW CSP project will be Greece’s first concentrated solar plant. The project will be developed by Nur Energie and will be located in Crete.

Enel has commissioned two wind farms in the Spanish province of Aragon – 50 MW Sierra Costera I, and the 35.99 MW Campoliva.

Ambev has signed a PPA for a planned 80 MW wind farm in Bahia, Brazil. Casaforte Investimentos will complete the farm by Q1 2022.

Blue Circle will build an 80 MW wind farm at Mount Bokor, in Cambodia’s southern Kampot province.

The first 50 MW of the Taiba N’Diaye wind farm – which will eventually reach 158.7 MW – is on track to be commissioned this December. The project is developed by Lekela, and is situated 90km north of Senegal’s capital Dakar, using Vestas turbines.

Mercury New Zealand has decided to increase the size of the planned Turitea Wind Farm, in Palmerston North, from 119 to 222 MW. Both portions of the wind farm will use Vestas turbines.

Nautilus Solar Energy is developing the 12.44 MW King Community Solar Project in Rhode Island.

Clorox has signed a PPA for a portion of Enel’s 497 MW Roadrunner project in Texas. Half of the solar plant will be commissioned by the end of 2019, the other half by the end of 2020.

China Steel Corporation is developing a 300 MW offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm will be commissioned in 2024.
