Renewable orders this week

MHI Vestas will supply 137 MW of turbines for another undisclosed project in the USA. The shipment consists of V110-2.0 MW and V110-2.2 MW turbines and will be delivered in Q3 2020. Vestas will also commission them in Q4 2020 and has signed a 10-year maintenance agreement.

Enel has commissioned a 4.8 MW / 16.4 MWh battery system in New York. The project is built on space leased from Related Companies, at the Gateway Center mall. The produced electricity will be used by energy utility Con Edison.

Renova has commissioned the 80.8 MW Karumai East Solar Project in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. It has also increased its stake to majority ownership.

Utility company, NV Energy has secured approval for three large solar and battery projects totalling 1,190 MW solar power and 590 MW battery capacity to be installed in the US state of Nevada by January 2024. The three projects in question are the 200 MW solar and 75 MW battery Arrow Canyon Solar & Storage Project to be developed by EDF Renewables, the 690 MW solar and 531 MW battery Gemini Solar & Storage Project to be developed by Arevia Power and Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, and the 300 MW solar and 135 MW battery Southern Bighorn Solar & Storage Center to be developed by 8minute.

Enel has announced it will be developing 72.4 MW of solar capacity in Spain’s Balearic Islands, to be ready by 2022 at the latest.

Construction has started at the 200MW Wellington Solar Farm in New South Wales, Australia, being developed by Lightsource BP. The project will be commissioned by December 2020.

A 2.7 GW floating solar project and 300 MW offshore wind project are being planned for the reclaimed land behind the world’s longest sea wall in Samangeum, Korea. Amsterdam Capital Partners, G8 Subsea, Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency of Korea, and Saemangeum Offshore Wind Power are involved. Earlier this year a 2.1 GW floating solar project was reported to be under planning for the same location; it is unclear whether this new report is of a separate project.

Chint Solar commissioned the 103MW Midden-Groningen Solar Park in the Netherlands. Panels were supplied by Astronergy. Construction was completed over the course of only eight months.

Goldwind has installed 33 of the 48 turbines, which it supplied, at the 144 MW Cattle Hill Wind Farm in Tasmania. Aurora is the power offtaker and PowerChina is the developer of the project.

Nordex has received orders for 130 MW of its turbines from seven customers for unspecified projects in France, Germany, Ireland and Sweden, with construction scheduled to start in 2020 and 2021.

The planned Corriedale Wind Farm in Wyoming has received approval to increase its size from 40 to 52.5 MW. Black Hills Energy will commission the project by the end of 2020.

Geronimo Energy has commissioned the 200 MW Crocker Wind Farm in South Dakota. VPPAs have been signed with Walmart and Cargill, and GE Renewable Energy turbines were used.

Capital Power has fired up the 202 MW Phase 1 of the Whitla Wind Farm in Alberta, Canada. MHI Vestas turbines were used and Alberta’s grid operator is the offtaker. Whitla Phase 2 will be 97 MW, with construction due to commence in 2021. Discussions are under way with several parties of a PPA for the second phase. Capital Power also expects to commission the 150 MW Cardinal Point Wind Farm, located in Illinois, in Q1 2020.

Allete Clean Energy has commissioned the 106 MW Glen Ullin Wind Farm in North Dakota. The project uses GE Renewable Energy turbines, with Xcel Energy as the offtaker. The company also plans to commission the 80 MW South Peak wind farm in Montana by the end of the year, which will also use GE’s turbines, and will have NorthWestern Energy as the offtaker. Lastly, the 300 MW Diamond Spring wind project in Oklahoma is scheduled to be commissioned by Q4 2020, with Walmart, Starbucks and Smithfield Foods as the offtakers.

Nordex will supply the turbines for the Vize-2 Wind Project being developed by Karayel Elektrik in Kirklareli Province, Turkey. The project will be commissioned by the end of 2020.

El Sewedy Electric has been selected to develop South Sudan’s first megawatt-scale solar plant, near the capital. The project will have 20 MW of solar capacity and 35 MWh of battery storage.

MHI Vestas will supply the turbines for Mainstream Renewable Power’s 184.8 MW Cerro Tigre wind project in Chile’s Antofagasta region, due for commissioning in 2021.

RWE Renewables is developing two wind projects in Texas, both planned for commissioning in December 2020. The 200 MW Raymond Wind Farm will use Vestas turbines, and the West Raymond Wind Farm is 240 MW.

Invenergy will develop the 168 MW Fenicias wind farm in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. The project should be finished Q1 2021.

Nucor has signed a PPA for 75 MW from a wind farm to be developed by Evergy. Full details of the wind farm have yet to be disclosed, but the electricity will fully power a Nucor steelmill under development in the US state of Missouri.

NamPower, Nambia’s energy utility, has plans for two wind farms in the Sperrgebiet national park, near the country’s southwest coastline. Nampower will develop a 40 MW wind farm itself, while a 50 MW wind farm will be built by public-private partnership to be determined through a bidding process. Nampower will buy the energy of both projects.

BluEarth Renewables has received permission to erect 277 turbines on the border of Albany and Carbon counties in the US state of Wyoming. The projects in question are the 280 MW Two Rivers Wind Farm and the 500 MW Lucky Star Wind Farm, which will together cost $1 billion and employ 400 people at peak construction in 2022.

Greenalia’s 24 MW Minon wind farm is almost complete and will feed power into the grid before the end of the year. It’s situated in the Spanish province of Galicia.

Enel has commissioned the 20 MW Expansion Los Llanos wind farm in the Spanish province of Burgos.

The 3.4 GW Thang Long Offshore Wind Farm is being planned in Vietnam, offshore from the Ke Ga Cape. The first phase of 600 MW should be ready in 2023, with the entire project completed in 2027.

Rusnano and Fortum will develop a 50 MW wind farm in Russia’s Rostov region, to be commissioned by the end of next year.

Greenbacker Renewable Energy has purchased the 19 MW Electric City Solar project in Michigan. The project has a municipal PPA, with construction due to start soon and finish in the summer of 2020.

Key Solar has completed a 3 MW rooftop solar installation at a UPS hub in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Marina Energy has commissioned a 3.5 MW solar project at the Crystal Springs Resort in New Jersey.

Iberdrola’s 804 MW Park City Offshore Wind Project has been selected by Connecticut as the winner of a major offshore wind solicitation. Negotiations will now begin with Connecticut’s two electric utilities, with the project due for commissioning in 2025.
