Renewables orders this week

Another German solar ground-mounted project tender has come out undersubscribed, with 677 MW out of 890 MW. Previously in June a similar tender received 714 MW of bids out of 1,126 MW.

Eco Wave Power has entered an agreement with the Turkish government to build a 4 MW pilot wave power project at Ordu on the Black Sea coast. Pending feasibility studies this can be expanded to 77 MW.

The EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) finance scheme has assigned $324 million, around half of the necessary total, to a 600 MW transmission line to join Italy and Tunisia.

Lightsource bp has reached financial close on a 515 MW, $365 million solar portfolio to be built in Australia.

Erthos will supply 100 MW of its “flat ground mount” modules to Industrial Sun’s project in Texas, with the lower output from not using trackers compensated by the greater area covered by modules.

Taiyi Solar will invest $790 million on a 5 GW TOPCon, 5 GW heterojunction factory.

Tongwei is building a $2 billion, 200,000-ton polysilicon factory in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. Meanwhile Trina Solar is to buy 10.6 GW of solar cells, worth $2 billion at current prices, from Tongwei in an agreement spanning the duration of 2023 with monthly price negotiations.

Stellantis has signed a PPA with DTE Energy through the latter’s MIGreenPower programme, with a scale of 400 MW.

NextEra and Ineos have signed a PPA regarding the former’s upcoming310 MW Hickerson Solar Farm in Texas, with commissioning due December 2025.

Adion Solar, a new entrant to the US solar manufacturing industry, intends to commission its first 500 MW module factory next year.

SolarDuck is to build a pilot floating offshore solar project in Japanese waters with a scale of a few MW, in co-operation with Tokyu Land.

Vestas has received a 59MW order for an undisclosed wind farm in Southern Sweden. The order included a total of 13 V150-4.5MW wind turbines. The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are planned to take place in the Q2 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the Q3 2024.

Vestas has received a 236 MW order from Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, a long-term client from Pori, to power the Siikajoki wind project in North Ostrobothnia in Finland. The order includes 38 V162-6.2MW wind turbines which are set to be installed in Q2 2024 and commissioned on H2 2024.

Rivian and Mercedes have indefinitely paused plans announced just three months ago through an MoU that would have meant collaboration on building electric trucks within Europe within the next couple of years.

Greenko Group has won a technology agnostic storage tender for 3000MWh from NTPC Renewable Energy, the renewables arm of NTPC, an Indian power generation company.

Sungrow has agreed a deal with ENGIE to supply 638MWh of its liquid-cooled energy storage solution to be paired with a solar plant in Chile due to be completed by the first trimester of 2024.

American Battery Factory will establish a battery cell gigafactory in Tucson, Arizona, costing $1.2 billion and creating 300 jobs initially.

Acconia Energia has signed an agreement with Qcells to install a 190MW/380MWh BESS in Texas. The deal also includes the acquisition of a portfolio of over 1GW/2GWh of BESS projects at “an advanced state of development”.

Nordex Group has received an order from TODA Investimentos do Brasil for 16 turbines for the 94.4MW “EOL TODA ENERGIA 2” wind farm. The wind farm is to be built in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, near to the city of Pedro Avelino in Brazil. Installation is scheduled for Q2 2024.
