Renewables orders this week

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power is lining up a $2.4 billion deal to develop a 1.5 GW onshore wind farm in Uzbekistan, which it expects to complete in 2026, should it receive approval from the country’s government.

 

Xcel Energy is planning to acquire two wind projects, worth 120 MW, from Allete, in a deal worth $216 million. The deal must be approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, having already been approved by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. The 100 MW Nortern Wind project, and the 20 MW Rock Aetna wind farm are both in southwest Minnesota.

Keppel has acquired a 25% stake in the 465 MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the Germany North Sea. The project has been in operation since 2019, with the remaining stakes held by Orsted (50%), and Gulf Energy (25%).

Orsted has pushed back the final commissioning date of its 900 MW Changhua 1&2a project in Taiwan to 2023 due to “COVID-19 related delays,” according to a statement made this week.

Taaleri Energia has joined with Encro to acquire a 111MW wind project in Croatia. Construction of the Zadar wind farm started in Q2 2021, with commissioning expected in Q4 2023.

F2i and Credit Agricole Assurances will acquire a 483 MW wind power portfolio in Spain from Villar Mir Group. The portfolio includes 53 MW of capacity that is already in operation, with 430 MW of wind projects at an advanced stage of development.

Siemens Gamesa has secured a contract to supply turbines to a 346 MW wind power project being developed by Azure Power in the state of Karnataka, India. Installation will begin in Q2 2023.

 

Banbao plans to invest $720 million in a 10 GW TOPCon cell factory in Hubei Province, having terminated its agreement with a municipal authority concerned an 8 GW factory in Jiangxi Province.

 

Wuxi Shangji Automation will build a 25 GW ingot-slicing, 24 GW N-type cell factory in the Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, with an expected $2.25 billion investment.

Yingli Energy has commissioned a 5 GW N-type cell factory in Baoding City, Hebei Province, after a $3.75 million investment.

LONGi has expanded its prior 20 GW rod-slicing factory expansion plan for Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, to 46 GW. Plans for adjoining 30 GW cell and 5 GW module adjoining production capacity have not been altered. The extra 26 GW is to cost $1.1 billion.

Jinchen has agreed to supply a further 2.5 GW of module production line equipment to Indian manufacturer Waaree, bringing the total agreed to 10 GW of which 6 GW has been delivered already with another 4 GW coming this year.

Ford Motor Company and DTE Energy have signed an agreement under which the latter will arrange for 650 MW of solar capacity to be supplying Ford’s Michigan facilities by 2025. This will be administrated via DTE’s MIGreenPower program.

 

Shouhang Hi-Tech is to set up a subsidiary which will develop a 200 MW CSP, 800 MW wind, 520 MW photovoltaic renewable energy complex in Gansu Province.

Colbun has submitted plans for a 422 MW solar-plus-storage project in Chile, with a five-hour 240 MW battery component.

Greek utility PPC has launched a 550 MW solar tender at a former coal mine, with non-module costs estimated at $221 million by the company.
