Renewables orders this week

ERG has agreed to acquire a 172 MW portfolio, consisting of 7 wind power projects, from EDP Renewables in Italy. The projects all entered operation between 2018 and 2021, and were sold for a value of around €420 million.

Enercity will develop a 198 MW wind farm in the Shleife municipaility of Germany.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has outlined plans to hold a third solicitation for offshore wind projects, opening on Decembet 22, for up to 2 GW of capacity.

Siemens Gamesa has secured a 112 MW order to supply wind turbines for Green Power Investment’s Ishikari offshore wind project in Japan. Installation of the turbines is expected to begin in July 2023.

The French government will hold a tender for a 1 GW offshore wind farm in the Sud Atlantique zone this year.

RWE has installed the first turbine of its 342 MW Kaskasi offshore wind farm in Germany. The project is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2022.

Vattenfall’s Hollandse kust Zuid offshore wind farm has supplied its first power to the grid of the Netherlands. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2023.

Universal Solar is to open a 600 MW solar module factory in Panama for export to the US. South-East Asian factories will be disallowed from using made-in-China cells from mid-2024, but other countries such as Panama will still be able to.

US mechanical and electronic product supplier Advanced Industries Inc is planning a 200 MW solar module factory in Oman.

Flow Power has signed a 40 MW, 10-year PPA with the 412 MW Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm in South Australia. The wind farm is only part of a broader 1200 MW wind project, which will itself be paired with 600 MW solar and 900 MW battery in the under-development Goyder South renewable energy complex.

EDP Renovaveis (EDPR) has secured a PPA for a 200 MWac solar farm to be commissioned in 2024 in California, customer and project name unspecified.

Brazilian gas and utility company Eneva is to commission the 870 MW Futura 1 solar plant in the fourth quarter.

The EBRD, combined with other banks, has approved $114 million for a 230 MW solar project in Azerbaijan.

rPlus Energies has commissioned the 104 MW Graphite solar farm in Utah, which will feed power to Meta’s Eagle Mountain data center.

Enel Colombia has begun construction of a 486.7 MW solar farm in Atlantico, Colombia.

Datang Inner Mongolia has issued an EPC tender for 490 MW of 2-hour battery capacity across China’s Inner Mongolia province, supporting 1.7 GW of renewables.

China National Nuclear Corporation and SDIC Power have issued tenders for eight long-duration battery projects in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, with 1.125 GW of 4-hour storage supporting 4.5 GW of renewables.

Gotion High-Tech is to expand its Liuzhou Gotion battery factory from 10 GWh to 20 GWh production capacity, with a second phase to be commissioned in 2026.

The world’s first GWh-scale sodium-ion battery factory has been commissioned in China’s Anhui Province, courtesy of HiNa Battery. Total investment cost was $87 million.8
