Telit takes over Thales IoT business in share swap Italian-American industrial IoT module maker Telit is acquiring the cellular IoT unit of French aerospace, defense and security group Thales in return for a quarter-share of the expanded business. As part of the deal, Telit is spinning out its automotive IoT business so that the new unit, branded Telit Cinterion, can focus on industrial IoT. The addition of Thales technology will strengthen its capabilities in and focus on security. The deal embraces Thales’ entire portfolio of cellular IoT modules, gateways, and modem cards, connecting via one of the cellular options of NB-IoT, LTE-M, LTE and 5G.
