Taiwan operator Far EasTone gives police a slice of its 5G network Taiwan operator Far EasTone Telecom (FET) has claimed a world-first for its 5G smart patrol car deployment for a police department, delivered using Ericsson’s end-to-end 5G network slicing technology. The Asian telco announced that the system included 5G core and RAN slicing, using Dynamic Radio Resource Partitioning in a live 5G Standalone (SA) network. The application software was developed specifically for the Kaohsiung City Police Department in the south of the country for license plate recognition by patrol cars equipped with high-resolution photography devices.
