RWE, Germany’s leading utility, signed a contract last week with French oil and gas major TotalEnergies to supply 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen from 2030 to 2044. On March 12th, RWE and TotalEnergies signed a 15-year agreement on green hydrogen supply. Under the contract, RWE’s upcoming 300 MW electrolysis plant in Lingen, Nieder-Sachsen, will supply TotalEnergies’ refinery in Leuna, Saxony-Anhalt, with green hydrogen worth 30,000 metric tons for 15 years. According to RWE, this is the biggest long-term green hydrogen contract signed in the country, and is expected to avoid 300,000 mtCO2eq per year.
