Samsung expands from set tops to networks at Videotron

The world of MNO network infrastructure has been pretty static for some time. Since Huawei kicked the cart over, ruining Nokia and Ericsson’s cozy coexistence, Huawei racked up enough wins to draw the ire of the US – amid its trade war with China. To this end, Huawei is now persona non grata in many MNOs, and Samsung seems to have seen an opportunity here – winning a deal to supply Videotron in Canada, and then buying TeleWorld Solutions (TWS) to improve its offerings. Samsung’s involvement, if priced correctly, could spur renewed network expansion efforts among the MNOs.
