In March, Hungary’s public utility authority HEPURA has concluded the country’s first competitive multi-technology renewables auction, which was launched in November. Aside from one landfill gas project, 71 of 72 awarded projects were solar. According to a report released last week on the auction by Hungarian consultants Wattmanager, weighted average prices of $85.22 per MWh were seen for small projects of less than 1 MW, and $74.32 per MWh for the larger projects of 1-20 MW. In total, 193 GWh of annual generation was awarded, from 131.9 MW of capacity.
