South Carolina’s Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued its final decision on new rules for Net Metering in the US state. Utility Duke Energy had a hand in the legislation as did the Solar Energy Industries Association. Net Metering is still largely in place, but now features a time-variable tariff which reflects the low value of electricity in the middle of the day, when solar generation is highest but demand is lowest. While customers will receive less money from their solar during that period, those drawing power from the grid will now also be charged less.
