If president Trump was to define his most beloved of coal territories, Indiana might feature heavily, so it is with some shock that one of the most staunch coal based utilities Vectren, a CenterPoint Energy company, announced an integrated Resource plan that is renewables heavy this week. The release points out that it will save its customers some $320 million over the next 20 years, but our guess is that as prices for renewables come down, and its experience with them grows, it will save them many times that amount. The aim is to shift to a fleet of assets which are almost two-thirds renewable, reducing reliance on carbon fuels and lowering carbon emissions by nearly 75% from 2005 levels.…
