Sprint (US)

Sprint, owned by Japanese multinational telco Softbank, has had a mobile video service simply called the Sprint TV app, powered by MobiTV, since 2005. Operations and figures: Sprint ended Q3 2018 with 54.5 million total wireless subscribers, losing 20,000 subs in the period. Total revenue for the quarter came in at $8.4 billion, up about $500 million year on year, with net income of $207 million. Unfortunately, Sprint does not break out viewing figures for its various streaming apps.   Technology suppliers: Sprint has always thought of its mobile TV service as a small subordinate revenue stream, and has therefore relied on MobiTV since 2005, with Sprint inheriting any improvements to the service as MobiTV has rolled them out.
